5.2.4.17        Output High Limit

Output High and Low Limits apply to Analog Parameters and Tags. Parameter Output Limits are normally left at a default value. Parameter Output limits can save time and typing or enforce a standard if this parameter will be used in a predictable way to create Tags or Blocks.   Output Limits restrict changes to the value of the tag or BLOCK:PARAMETER.  This is the maximum value that users and operators can assign.  An example is limiting Setpoint changes to values less than Span Hi. Common uses include Setpoint Limits and Output Limits for controls.

The Output Limits affect only data entered through WebAccess in the run-time VIEW including displays, dialog boxes, keymacros, data transfer function, recipes and scripts.

If the tag is an IO Tag (for example a register in a PLC or controller) a ladder program, other third party software can change the tag in the field device directly.
