Data Tab in the Category Charts    

Use the Data tab in the Category charts to choose data sources and to format the data from your data sources.

Properties on the Data Tab in the Category Charts

Data Browser

Allows you to set the data source for the chart.

Add button – displays the Data Source Browser. See Data Source Browser Properties.

Delete button – removes the selected data source.

Configure Expression button – displays the Expression Builder. See Expression Builder Properties.

Advanced Settings button – displays the Advanced Settings dialog box. See Advanced Settings Properties.

Series in Rows

Allows you to configure the chart so that the data series appears in rows.

Series in Columns

Allows you to configure the chart so that the data series appears in columns.

Start Name

The name of the category or series that will be the starting point on the chart.

If one of the preset templates is selected, enter a valid starting value.

Template

Specifies a type of value to be used in the chart's rows or columns.

Line Width

Specifies the width of the line when the chart type is Line.

Values 1 through 9; 9 is the widest line.

Line Style

Specifies the style of the line when the chart type is Line.

Solid – a solid pen line style.

Dash Dash – a dashed pen line style.

Dot Dot – a dotted pen line style.

Dash Dot – a dash-dot combination line style.

Dash Dot Dot – a dash-dot-dot combination line style.

Max Rows

Specifies the limit on the number of rows to be displayed.

500 – when displaying "Series in Columns". This limits the number of bars to 500.

50 – when displaying "Series in Rows". This limits the number of series in each category to 50, or in the case of stacked bars, 50 is the maximum number of sections in the bar.

Auto Set
Max Rows

Indicates whether the data returned by the query determines the maximum number of rows.

Selected – the maximum number of rows is determined by the number of rows returned in the query (i.e., all retrieved data is used in the chart).

Cleared – the maximum number of rows is determined by the value in the Max Rows field.

Reset button

Updates the Category or Series list boxes, depending on changes made to the Start Name, Template, and Max Rows properties.

NOTE: The Reset button updates the configuration display only. Changes are updated to the run-time display when you click the OK or Apply buttons (even if the Reset button has not been used).

Categories

Specifies the values in the categories list for the chart.

For Pie charts, the values in the Category list box appear in a list box that you can select from during Run mode.

NOTE: TBD may appear in the Category list box if the data has not yet been retrieved (the data will be retrieved while in Run mode).

Series

Specifies the values in the series list for the chart.

NOTE: TBD may appear in the Series list box if the data has not yet been retrieved (the data will be retrieved while in Run mode).
