It is recommended that you DO NOT UNINSTALL older versions of the product before installing Proficy Portal 2.6. Proficy Portal setup will automatically detect the presence of an older version and will upgrade the files. However, you should back up (make a copy of) your working directories before running the upgrade.
The following upgrade paths are supported:
Upgrade from Proficy Portal 2.1 to Proficy Portal 2.6. When you run the Proficy Portal 2.6 setup, Proficy Portal 2.1 is automatically uninstalled prior to 2.6 installation.
Upgrade from Proficy Portal 2.5 to Proficy Portal 2.6. When you run the Proficy Portal 2.6 setup, Proficy Portal 2.5 is automatically uninstalled prior to 2.6 installation.
Notes on upgrading from 2.1:
Do not uninstall version 2.1. The Proficy Portal 2.6 setup program will detect version 2.1 and prompt you to run the upgrade. All version 2.1 files will be upgraded automatically.
If you uninstall version 2.1 prior to installing version 2.6, then all displays, pen groups, event groups, symbols, etc. will not be upgraded to version 2.6.
If you have uninstalled version 2.1, and installed version 2.6 to the folder 2.1 was previously installed to, you can upgrade the 2.1 files by running the following command:
GE Fanuc/Proficy Portal/webapps/infoAgentSrv/Upgrade2/UpgradeRerun.cmd
If you have uninstalled version 2.1, and installed version 2.6 to a folder other than the one 2.1 was previously installed to, you can upgrade the 2.1 files by running the following command:
GE Fanuc/Proficy Portal/webapps/infoAgentSrv/Upgrade2/UpgradeApp.cmd
NOTE: If you are upgrading from infoAgent 1.1 or 2.0, it is recommended that you first upgrade to either Proficy Portal 2.1 or 2.5, and next upgrade to version 2.6.
NOTE: Before upgrading, it is recommended that you back up (make a copy of) your working directories.
Log onto your web server using an account that has administrator rights.
Insert the Proficy Portal CD into your CD-ROM drive. The installation program automatically starts.
Ensure that the Upgrade option is selected.
Follow the instructions on the screen and restart the computer when prompted. If you are not prompted to restart, start the Proficy Portal server by choosing Start Proficy Portal Server from the Proficy Portal program group in the Windows Start menu.
