Step 2. Choose the CIMPLICITY Installation Source

Starting up CIMPLICITY installation is similar to other Windows® based software.

CIMPLICITY can be installed from the following.

Local CD_ROM drive.

Shared CD_ROM drive.

Local CD-ROM Drive

  1. Insert the CD in the CD-ROM drive.

  2. Proceed based on your Windows automatic startup configuration.

Automatic startup is enabled

Result: The CIMPLICITY Splash screen opens automatically.

Automatic startup is disabled

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Select the CD-ROM drive.

  3. (For a network computer that is different from the computer that holds the CD) map a drive to the computer that holds the CD.

  4. (For all computers) select InstallFrontEnd.exe on the CIMPLICITY Distribution CD.

Result: The CIMPLICITY Splash screen opens.

Shared CD-ROM Drive for Installation

If you are using a shared CD-ROM (or CD/DVD) drive, you will need to take some simple steps on both the computer with the CD-ROM drive and the computer on which you will install Proficy™ HMI/SCADA CIMPLICITY®.

  1. Do the following to create a mapped CD-ROM (or CD/DVD) drive.

On the computer with the CD-ROM drive

  1. Open My Computer.

  2. Right-click the CD-ROM drive.

  3. Select the Sharing option on the Popup menu.

The drive's Properties dialog box opens.

  1. Select the Sharing tab.

  2. Check Share this folder..

  3. Enter a name in the Share Name field.

  4. Click OK.

On the computer where you want to install Proficy™ HMI/SCADA CIMPLICITY®

  1. Open My Computer.

  2. Click Tools>Map Network Drive in the Windows Explorer menu bar..

  3. Select a Drive.

  4. Specify a path to the shared CD-ROM.

  5. Click OK.

  1. Open the shared drive and select InstallFrontEnd.exe on the CIMPLICITY Distribution CD.

Result: The CIMPLICITY Splash screen opens.
