The problem is that when specifying a genie substitution %PAGE%_%NUMBER% , it will fail to append NUMBER, as the result after the changes it will look something like %PAGESUBT%_% and the correct one should be %PAGESUBT%_%NUMBER%.

 

Solution:
CIT has confirmed this to be a problem in Citect for Windows versions 5.21 Service Pack C to 5.31. This problem has been fixed in version 5.40.
