Summary:
All my CitectScada server and Display Clients run in WinXP OS. In one of my pages, I have an object with flashing colours. So far I am able to use the object with flashing colour as described in KB Q3612. However, when I remotely restart my Display Client, I can no longer see the flashing colours. What is the cause of this and what should I do to fix it?

Solution:
When you restart Display Client remotely, WinXP changes the colour quality setting to the highest mode (32 bit) automatically. For an object with flashing colour to work, the colour quality setting has to be set to the lowest mode (8 bit).

This is apparently the problem with WinXP OS. In order to workaround this, you can force WinXP to run its display in 8 bit mode. This can be done as follow:

1. In the Display Properties, click the Settings tab.

2. Select the Advanced button.

3. Click the Adapter tab and then click the List all modes button.

4. Select the resolution, color depth (256) and refresh rate and click OK.
