The Maximum Points field for PI data sources controls the number of values displayed from a PI server.
The number of points received is a function of the start time/time span, retrieval mode, and maximum points. For example, if you set the time span for 1 hour, the maximum points to 300, and select a retrieval mode of Even, 300 values will be returned at 12 second intervals. If the same options are selected, except the retrieval mode is Compressed, then a maximum of 300 archive values from the start time are returned. Less than 300 archive values are returned if less than 300 values exist within the time span.
