If you purchased the Enterprise edition of Proficy Portal, the Proficy Portal server can communicate with SQL databases to retrieve, insert, modify, and delete data. Using the Proficy Portal Statement Builder, you can create SQL statements to perform these tasks.
Using the Statement Builder does not require in-depth knowledge of SQL or relational databases; however, familiarity with SQL may be required if you want to use the Statement Builder to its full potential.
After you create a statement, you can save it for use with other Proficy Portal objects. For example, suppose you create a statement that counts the number of widgets you have in stock. By saving this statement, you can use it as a data source for a grid or chart and display this information in an analysis display. For more information about using the Statement Builder, refer to Introduction to the SQL Statement Builder.
