When you order a hardware key for Proficy products and options, specify the following:
Part number for each product and feature.
Quantity of each product and feature.
If the hardware should be parallel or USB port.
There can be only one hardware key per computer.
You can attach a parallel port printer cable to a parallel port hardware key.
List of what Proficy products/options will be installed on each computer.
The default hardware key configuration is that each hardware key will contain the set of licenses for every product and option purchased.
You will receive a hardware key for each set of licenses.
Example
You order 4 iFIX licenses and 3 Historian licenses. You will receive the following:

Each key will contain the products/options according to your specifications.

IMPORTANT: You can attach only one key to a computer.
Result: When your order is fulfilled you will receive one or more CD's and hardware keys.
Install your Proficy products and options.
Follow the installation directions for each of your Proficy products.
IMPORTANT: Attach the hardware key to the server only after you install all of the licensed products, and do not remove the key while the application is running. If you do remove the key while the application is running, the application will need to be restarted, and the key may become damaged.
Attach the hardware key to the server. Insert the key into either the parallel or USB port, depending on the kind of key you ordered. At this time, GE Fanuc does not support USB keys connected through an external USB hub.
If you are installing a parallel port key, reconnect equipment to the back of the hardware key, as required.
Review the license report and make changes, as required.
From the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, then Proficy Common, and then choose License Viewer.
The Management Console window opens.
The following figure and legend describes what you see in the Management Console window:

The left pane displays icons for each of your licensed Proficy products. Click an icon to select it. Details display in the right pane that correspond to the selected Proficy product. NOTE: You can click the button on the Management Console toolbar to display details about all the licensed products on the same page. |

Click any of the buttons on the Management Console toolbar to do the following. Show All – displays all of the details about the licensed products on the same page. Save – saves all licensing information in an HTML file. Print – prints the licensing information. |
If you start a Proficy application that does not have a license, a message may warn you that no license is present and the software will run in demonstration mode.
Demonstration mode:
Provides you with limited functionality (depending on the product).
Runs for a maximum of two hours. The actual time depends on which Proficy product is unlicensed.
