Properties in the Grid Configuration Dialog Box: Columns Tab

Columns list

Specifies the data sources configured in the grid. The item Default Column Settings lets you configure the format, thresholds, and general properties of all columns. To change settings for a specific column, ensure that column is selected.

NOTE: To change the name of a column, double-click the column name and enter the new name.

Arrow buttons – allow you to change the order of the columns.

Row Header check box – when selected, indicates that the column is used as a row header.

Visible check box – when selected, indicates that the column is visible. The column is hidden if the check box is cleared.

Editable check box – when selected, indicates that values in the column can be changed.

Auto Fill Data check box – when selected, indicates that the data in the selected column will be repeated on each row. This check box is used only for those columns with data that will be the same for every row.

Apply
Configuration
to All Data
Sources

Indicates whether you want to apply the first data source's configuration options to all other data sources. For example, both simulation1 and simulation2 have value, timestamp, and quality columns. All of simulation1's three column configurations will apply to simulation3's columns.

Selected – the configuration options of the first column apply to all other columns.

Cleared – the configuration options of the first column do not apply to all other columns.

Group Columns
by Data Sources

Indicates whether all displayed columns will be grouped by their source during run-time. This check box is available only for real time data sources.

Selected – the columns are grouped by data source.

Cleared – the columns are not grouped by data source.

General tab
fields

Specifies the properties for each data source.   If you select a specific column, you can override these defaults.

Refer to General Tab (Grid Columns Tab) for specific information on these fields.

Threshold tab
fields

Specifies the thresholds for each data source. If you select a specific column, you can override the default threshold values.

Format tab
fields

Specifies how to format data for each data source. If you select a specific column, you can override the default format settings.

Enumeration
tab fields

Specifies a list of values that a user can choose from to update a column during run-time or insert.

General Tab (Grid Columns Tab)

Use Default
Column Settings

Indicates whether column defaults, or settings on this tab are used.

Selected – The column uses the column defaults.

Cleared – The column-specific settings override the column defaults.

Font

Specifies the typeface for the text in the column.

All TrueType fonts installed on the local computer are in the list.

NOTE: Select a font that is available on each user's computer; otherwise, Proficy Portal will substitute another font when the user opens the display and the text will not appear as you intend.

Style

Specifies the style of the text in the column.

For easy-to-read analysis displays, we do not recommend using Italics or Bold Italics as the text style.

Size

Specifies the point size of the text in the column.

From 8 to 72 points.

Specifies the color of the text in the column.

Select a color from the color palette.

Background
button

Specifies the background color of the column.

Select a color from the color palette.

Indicates whether the grid uses the default settings for column thresholds.

Selected – the grid uses the default settings.

Cleared – the grid uses configured settings.

Enable Threshold

Indicates whether the grid uses the threshold settings configured.

Selected – the data in the grid is formatted according to the threshold properties.

Cleared – the threshold settings are not used.

Apply to
Foreground
Color

Indicates whether to apply the set colors to the foreground (text) in the grid.

If not selected, the set colors are applied to the grid background color.

Apply to
Background
Color

Indicates whether to apply the set colors to the background color of the grid.

If not selected, the set colors are applied to the grid foreground color.

Threshold Table
Name

Displays the name of the threshold table.

Display-only field. To change the name of the threshold table, use the Save As button.

Range

Specifies a threshold range. Column values that fall within a specific range appear in the color that is associated with the threshold range.

Any values – will depend on the acceptable ranges of the specific data.

Exact Match

Specifies an exact threshold value. Column values must equal the specified threshold to pick up the associated threshold color.

Any values – will depend on the acceptable values of the specific data.

Tolerance

Specifies the maximum amount of allowable deviation from the thresholds defined. For example, if you set the tolerance to 0.1 and the threshold is 20, then values from 20.00 and 20.09 are treated as 20. Tolerance is used only for the Exact Match option.

Any numeric value – will depend on the specific data.

Edit out of
Range button

Allows you to set options for the appearance of values that fall outside of the threshold values/ranges you have set.

Opens the Edit Out of Range dialog box. Options are:

Out of Range – indicates whether to mark out of range values (selected indicates they will be marked).

Color – indicates the color that out of range values will be displayed in. Select a color from the palette.

Minimum
column

Specifies the minimum threshold value for the range you want to define.

Any numeric value.

Maximum
column

Specifies the maximum threshold value for the range you want to define.

Any numeric value.

Color By
column

Specifies the threshold color.

Select a color from the color palette.

Add button

Adds a row to the end of the threshold table.

Insert button

Inserts a row after the selected row in the threshold table.

Delete button

Removes the selected row from the threshold table.

Delete all rows
button

Clears all values from the threshold table.

Move Row(s)
Up/Move Row(s)
Down buttons

Changes the order of the selected row(s).

Load button

Loads a threshold file.

Select a table from the Load Threshold Table dialog box.

Save button

Saves a set of thresholds to a file.

Saves a set of thresholds to a file with a new name.

Specify a the table name in the Save Threshold Table dialog box.

Restores the thresholds to their default values.

Allows you to configure the grid column to display alphanumeric data.

Integer Digits

Specifies the number of digits to include before the decimal point.

Any value from 0 to 50. Default is 5.

NOTE: Only numeric grid columns use this field.

Decimal Digits

Specifies the number of digits to include after the decimal point. The displayed value is rounded off to fit into the number of digits specified for the grid column.

Any value from 0 to 50. Default is 2.

NOTE: Only numeric grid columns use this field.

Number of
Lines

Specifies the number of lines in an alphanumeric grid column.

Any value from 1 to 10. Default is 1.

NOTE: Only alphanumeric grid columns use this field.

Chars per
Line

Specifies the number of characters per line in alphanumeric grid columns.

Any value from 1 to 256. Default is 8.

NOTE: Only alphanumeric grid columns use this field.

Date Format

Specifies the format of the current date.

Various date formats.

Time Format

Specifies the format of the current time.

Various time formats.

Justification

Allows you to set justification of the text in the grid column.

Data Bound

Indicates that the enumeration values are retrieved from a data source.

Indicates that the enumeration values are manually set (i.e. they are not retrieved from a data source).

Specifies the list of enumeration values.

Add Strings button – displays the Add Strings dialog. Enter each value in this dialog. Press Enter on your keyboard to separate values.

Delete Selected Item button – removes the selected item from the enumeration list.
