NOTE: Control limit settings vary slightly among chart types.
If you have not already done so, insert a chart by selecting it from the Insert menu, or double-click an existing chart to access the chart's configuration panel.
Select the Chart tab.
In the Control Limits section, select the method for control limit specification:
If you want the control limits to be calculated exclusively from the data source, select the Calculated from Data option button. When you select this option, you can change the Sigma limit if necessary.
If you want to set specific control limits, select the Specified option button. You then have two additional options:
To enter the values manually, select the Constant option button and enter values in the UCL, CL, and LCL boxes.
To have values entered automatically from a data source, select the Data Source option button and click the ellipsis button beside each control limit to select the source from the Data Source Browser.
NOTE: For the XBar-R chart, specify limits for both XBar and Range controls. For the XBar-S chart, specify limits for both XBar and Sigma controls.
If you want the control limits to be based on the mean and standard deviation, select the Based on Mean and Sigma option button. For Range, Sigma, and Moving Range charts, this option does not include mean. For attribute charts, this option does not include Sigma. You then have two additional options:
To enter the values manually, select the Constant option button and enter values in the Mean and Std Dev boxes.
To have values entered automatically from a data source, select the Data Source option button and click the ellipsis button beside each value to select the source from the Data Source Browser.
To change the sigma limit, enter the new limit in the Sigma Limit box.
If you are using a Visual SPC data source and want the control limits to be calculated from that source, select the From VisualSPC Source option button.
