To configure variable chart subgroups

  1. If you have not already done so, insert a chart by selecting it from the Insert menu, or double-click an existing chart to access the chart's configuration panel.

  2. Select the Data tab.

  3. In the Subgroup Configuration section (called Data Configuration for the Histogram chart), select from the SubGroupId Column list box the subgroup ID for the subgroup column. When you select a subgroup column, the subgroup will no longer appear in the Data Columns list.

  4. To change the subgroup size, enter a number (available ranges depend on the type of chart) in the SubGroup Size text box. You can change the subgroup size only if the Subgroup ID column is NONE; that is, the subgroup size is set automatically to the size of the subgroup that is selected.

  5. To change the color associated with a data column, click the colored box beside the column ID and select any color from the color palette.

  6. To change the width or style of the data column's line, select the column ID in the Data Columns box and select a new value from the Line Width list box or the Line Style list box. This step does not apply to Histogram charts.

  7. Histogram charts only: to change the number of bars, in the Number of Bars text box, enter any number from 5 to 30.

  8. Moving XBar charts only: to change the moving length, in the Moving Length text box, enter a number from 2 - 20. This number indicates how many consecutive subgroups are used to calculate the average.
