If you have not already done so, insert a chart by selecting it from the Insert menu, or double-click an existing chart to access the chart's configuration panel.
Select the Legend tab.
To display the legend on the chart, select the Show Legend check box.
To display the legend with a transparent background, select the Transparent check box.
From the Orientation list box, select the position you want the legend to appear in (top, bottom, left, or right).
From the Font Size list box, select the font size for all text and numbers in the legend.
To display a border around the legend, select the Show Border check box and click the Border Color button to select a color for the border.
To change the color of the text in the legend, click the Foreground button.
To change the color of the legend's background, click the Background button. The Transparent check box must be cleared for the background to appear.
From the Justification list box, select the alignment option (Right, Left, or Center).
To specify a maximum number of rows for the legend, select the Show Vertical Scroll Bar check box and enter the number of rows in the Maximum Rows Displayed field.
If the Legend's orientation is set as either left or right, in the Maximum Legend Width field, specify the maximum width for the legend in pixels.
Click OK.
