First Activesync has to be installed. You will find the newest version under:
http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/
You can install Activesync to any directory.
As a default Activesync tries to establish a connection on all CEM and USB ports one after the other. If no connection existed before, this can lead to problems. The connection on the CE side and on the PC side has to be started at the same time. So the success of the connection is left to chance. But you can add the following entries to the PC registry. Then Activesync uses the COM port you defined.
The following entries have to be added like above:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows CE Services]
SerialPort=COM1
Start Activesync and under File - Connection Settings enter the
COM port of your PC where the null modem cable is plugged in:
