Windows CE is a scaleable operating system from Microsoft that supports Unicode. On creating the CE image with the Platform Builder (also a tool from Microsoft) the manufacturer can decide, which components the operating system individually compiled by him contains. Thus the operating system needs much less space (small footprint). Some manufacturers even offer different sizes of images, where different components are integrated in the image.
