The control system works as a client/server system or as a multi-hierarchical system in network environment.

Certain services can only run on one computer (server) whereas others are available on many other computers (clients/workstations). This offers the following advantages and possible applications to the zenon user:

Simultaneous operation on different stations

Each station offers full functionality to the user

Only one computer (server) must be operating all the time

Clients can be switched on and off during operation

Actions set on one workstation (e.g. acknowledging alarms) are displayed on all others

Centralized logging and archiving

All workstations can display process data in realtime.
