In the local network (for intranet
applications) resp. on a server in the internet a publishing
services has to be installed, which at least provides one WEB page
in the internet/intranet. This homepage serves as the entry for the
Webbrowser.
Microsoft offers different publishing services for the different
opeating systems like Internet Information Server for Windows NT
Server / Windows 2000 / Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 or Peer
Web Services for Windows NT Workstation. In addition other services
such as Apache for Linux can also be used to display the entry
page.
