Understanding Time Criteria

The following Proficy Portal objects are time-based:

You can define time-based rules for each of these objects. In many cases these rules can also be used with other objects. By default, the above objects set their starting time to the default starting time of the analysis display. The display's default starting time is called the time criteria.

When you define a time criteria, you have the following options:

Absolute time – defines a fixed date and time for the time criteria; for example, March 25, 2003 at 4:33 PM.

Relative time – defines a relative date and time for the time criteria; for example, yesterday at the current local time. By default, the relative time is based on the current local time (Now).

Time range – defines a start and stop time. These times can be absolute or relative.

If the Display Time Toolbar is enabled, an analysis display's time criteria is set to one hour behind the computer's current local time. However, you can configure the time criteria for a display to a different time using the Time tab on the Edit Current Display Settings dialog box. This dialog box is available in the configuration environment by selecting Current Display Settings from the Edit menu. For more information about this dialog box, refer to the section Display Settings.

After you define a time criteria, it acts as the default time for objects you add to a display. You can override the default by selecting a time for the object to use.

You can also set the time criteria for the current display from the run-time environment. Refer to Time Criteria in Run-time for more information.
