This procedure applies to XY and Correlation charts only.
If you have not already done so, insert a chart by selecting it from the Insert menu, or double-click an existing chart to access the chart's configuration panel.
Select the Data tab.
After entering the data source on the chart's Data tab, select the pen you want to configure (from the Pens list).
If you want a different pen to be used for the X axis, select the pen from the X axis list box.
Configure the pen's general properties:
On the Pen tab, either enter the high and low limits, or select the Auto Limits check box to have the limits set according to the data source's highest and lowest values.
If you want high and low limits to be retrieved automatically at run-time, select the Fetch Limits check box.
In the Decimal Places box, enter the number of decimals for pen values.
If the x axis pen is retrieved from a real time data source, configure the trend buffer options:
Click the Options tab.
In the Trend Buffer section, select the type of strategy to use from the Strategy drop-down list. All Points will hold all points over a given duration. Interval will hold a specified number of points per given time interval.
If you selected All Points, enter the number of seconds to hold the points.
If you selected Interval, enter the number of seconds to hold the points in the Duration field, and the maximum number of points the buffer will hold in the Max Points field.
Configure the pen's x axis:
On the X Axis tab, ensure the Show Axis tab check box is selected.
In the Number of Labels field, enter the number of labels to show on the x axis.
If you want the same number of major tick marks as the set number of labels, select the Same As Labels check box. If you want the number of major tick marks to be different than the number of labels, clear the Same As Labels check box and enter the number in the Major Ticks box.
In the Minor Ticks box, enter the number of minor ticks to show on the x axis.
From the Orientation list box, select the orientation of the x axis (Bottom or Top).
To change the color of the x axis line and tick marks, click the Axis Color button and select from the color palette.
To show a title on the x axis title, select the Show Title check box, and enter the title in the Axis Title box.
In the Numeric Axis Options section, enter the number of decimal places for numeric labels on the x axis.
If you want the numeric labels to be shown with exponents, select the Use Scientific Notation check box.
Configure the pen's grid options:
On the Grid tab, select the Show check box (in the Vertical Grid section) to show the x axis grid.
Select the Draw Lines at Major Ticks check box if you want a line at each major tick mark.
Select the Draw Lines at Minor Ticks check box if you want a line at each minor tick mark.
If you do not want lines drawn at major nor minor tick marks, make sure the check boxes for these options are cleared and enter the number of lines in the Number of Lines box.
To change the color of the grid, click the Grid Color button and select from the color palette.
To change the style of the grid lines, select an option from the Grid Style list box.
