To return aggregate data

  1. On the Edit Source/Configure New Object dialog box, select the Options tab.

  2. Select Aggregated from the Retrieval Mode drop-down list.

  3. In the Grouping Interval field, enter a time interval by which rows are grouped for aggregation, and select a time unit for the interval from the drop-down list. For example, entering 10 seconds indicates that the data will be grouped such that each returned row represents 10 seconds worth of data.

  4. NOTE: The grouping interval that you enter is a `suggested' grouping interval. If the suggested grouping interval (with the set Time Span) results in more rows than you have specified in the Max Rows field, the grouping interval will be increased so that, at the most, the set maximum number of rows is returned.

  5. Enter a number from 1 to 10,000 in the Max. Rows field. This is the maximum number of rows to request from the database.

  6. Select Ascending or Descending from the Sort Order drop-down list.
