FIX Data Sources

When you select a SCADA server, a list of database blocks configured on that server appear. After you select a block, the Edit Source dialog box appears. This dialog box allows you to select the specific field you want to use and the update rate for the object. The update rate (the priority) is one of the maximum age and timeout value pairs defined for the FIX connector. For more information about these connector values, refer to Adding a FIX Data Source.

NOTE: To access a remote SCADA node using the FIX connector, you must have an iFIX view node installed and running on the Proficy Portal server.

To configure a FIX Data Source

  1. You can access the FIX data source Edit Source dialog box in the following ways:

    • When an object is inserted from the Insert menu (in the configuration environment). In the Configuration panel, access the Data tab and set the data source via the Data Source Browser. Refer to The Data Source Browser for more information.

NOTE: The FIX data source is located under the Real Time node of the Data Sources tree.

    • When an object is inserted with the drag-and-drop method (Natural Presentation), either in the configuration or run-time environments. Refer to Dragging and Dropping Data Sources (Natural Presentation) for more information.

    • When an object is modified from the Configuration panel (Data tab). Double-click the data source to open the Edit Source dialog box.

  2. On the Edit Source/Configure New Object dialog box, select the fields to display. To add all fields, click the Add All button, or to add a specific field, select the field and click the Add button.

NOTE: Multiple field selection is not supported with G_DATA. That is, an error will appear if you attempt to add the G_DATA field with any other fields.

Consult your iFIX documentation for information on the available fields.

  1. If you want to manually enter fields, enter the valid field name in the Manual Field Entry box. For AR and DR F_NNNN or A_NNNN fields, 0 - 1023 are valid. If the field entered is not valid for the selected block type, you will receive an invalid field error when you run the display. After entering the field, click the Add button. The field appears in the Selected Fields list.

  2. If required, select a priority (GroupAtRate) for the tag.

  3. Set the priority as required.

  4. Click OK or Finish.
