As your needs change, you may need to copy, modify, or remove an existing data source. You will require one instance of a data source connector for each server that you are connected to. For example, if you have three Historian servers, you will need three instances of the Historian connector. The easiest way to create multiple instances of each type of connector is to create one and copy it. Likewise, modifying a data source may be necessary if the connection information is no longer valid. For example, a login name or the specific URL may have changed. If you no longer need to access a database, you may want to remove it.
When new data items are added to a data source, for example, if new tags were added to a Historian server, you can reset the server-side cache with the Reset Browse Cache button on the data source configuration window. This ensures that the users are browsing the most up-to-date list of data items.
To make changes to a data source, access the data source from the Administration application (in Connectors & Data Sources button). The following buttons are available for most types of data sources:
Test button – allows you to test the connection to the data source you are configuring. For more information, see To test a data source.
Copy button – allows you to copy the selected data source by specifying a different logical name. For more information, see To copy a data source.
Remove button – allows you to remove the selected data source. For more information, see To remove a data source.
Reset Browse Cache button – allows you to reset the server-side cache so that any new data items will be included. For more information, see To reset the browse cache.
