You may want to restrict access to Proficy Portal so that only authorized users can change the default settings of the application or update corporate analysis displays. You can restrict access using Proficy Portal security and by restricting the number of licenses that are available to the Proficy Portal server.
You can secure the Proficy Portal configuration and run-time environments by using the Administration application to enable security. After you enable security only authorized users can log into the run-time environment and switch to the configuration environment. Refer to the following for detailed information:
NOTE: If a user is given permission for the Administration application and/or the Statement Builder, but not given permission for the client application, that user will be unable to log in and access the Administration application and/or the Statement Builder from the Proficy Portal client. However, the user can access the Administration application and/or the Statement Builder from a URL line parameter. For example, to access the Administration application, the user would enter the following URL: http://localhost/ProficyPortal/Default.asp?APP=Admin. For more information on URL line parameters, see Passing Parameters to URLs.
