Display Settings Properties

The following tabs are available on the Edit Current Display Settings dialog box:

Display tab - The display tab contains configuration information for the visual presentation of the current display.

Quick Time tab - The Quick Time tab allows you to set defaults for the Quick Time control on each display.

Scroll Rates - The Scroll Rates tab allows you configure rates and units for scroll buttons on each display. These scroll rates override the defaults set on the Time tab of the Edit Application Preferences dialog box.

Auto Update - The Auto Update tab allows you to enable or disable auto update and set the default rate.

Error & Wait Icons - Error icons appear on your display when an errors occur; wait icons appear on your display if the specified time limit is exceeded while retrieving data for a chart, grid, datalink, or tree. The configurable options allow you to enable/disable the error/wait icon display, change the icon used for errors/wait indicator, or change the positioning of the icon on the display. This tab has the same options as the Error & Wait Icons tab on the Edit Application Preferences dialog box.

Printing - allows you to set a header and/or footer to be used when a display is printed.

Property

Description

Use Image check box

Indicates whether to use a background image for the display.

Color button

Opens the Choose Color dialog box where you can set the background color.

Image Name field

Specifies a background image for the display. Click the Browse for Image button to select an image. This field is available only if the Use Image check box is selected.

Centered/
Stretched/
Tiled radio buttons

Allows you to select the method for placing the background image in the display. Centered places the image in the center of the display. Stretched stretches the image to fit the display. Tiled tiles the image. These options are available only if the Use Image check box is selected.

Symbol File Name field

Specifies the symbol file to associate with this display.

Browse button

Opens the Symbol File dialog box where you can choose the symbol file to use with this display.

Show Toolbar
check box

Indicates whether the run-time toolbar is visible for the current display. To hide the toolbar for the current display, clear the check box. This check box is cleared by default.

Print Options
(AutoFit Width/Height)

Indicates whether to scale the display to fit the paper size when printing. For example, if AutoFit Width is selected, the width of the display would be scaled automatically to fit the size of the printed page; however, the display may print on more than one page if the AutoFit Height option is cleared.

If AutoFit Height and AutoFit Width are both cleared, the display will print on multiple pages (if the display size is larger than the size of the printed page).

AutoFit Display
Width check box

Indicates that the display width will be scaled to fit the window (if Auto Scale is enabled). All objects in the display will scale accordingly.

Display Width

Allows you to specify a set width for the display. The maximum allowable width is 5000 pixels. This field is available only if the AutoFit Display Width check box is cleared. To use this option, ensure that the Auto Scale options (in Application Preferences) are disabled.

AutoFit Display
Height

Indicates that the display height will be scaled to fit the window (if Auto Scale is enabled). All objects in the display will scale accordingly.

Display Height

Allows you to specify a set height for the display. The maximum allowable height is 5000 pixels. This field is available only if the AutoFit Display Height check box is cleared. To use this option, ensure that the Auto Scale options (in Application Preferences) are disabled.

 
Edit Current Display Settings: Quick Time Tab

Property

Description

Absolute

Allows you to define a fixed date and time for the time criteria. You can select a start/end date and time from the calendar, or place your cursor before the value you want to change and use the Up or Down arrows on your keyboard.

Relative

Allows you to define a date and time that is relative to a certain day, month, week, shift, and so forth.

NOTE: The default value for both Start and End is the current date and time.

NOTE: Specific dates/times, such as Day Shift are defined in the Named Time Editor.

Range

Allows you to define a date and time that is either relative or absolute, depending on your selection. The displayed Start And End date/time changes with your selection. For example, if you select Last Hour, the Start date/time changes to one hour before the current time (relative option). If you select Q1, the Start and End date/time values change to the first 3 months of the year (absolute option).

NOTE: Specific dates/times, such as Day Shift are defined in the Named Time Editor.

Use End Time

Indicates whether the Quick Time control will display with or without the End (stop) time.

Time Zone

Allows you to select the time zone used as the base time for the Quick Time control. Values are system-defined.

Foreground
button

Specifies the color of the displayed date/time.

Background
button

Specifies the background color of the date/time display.

Date Format

Specifies the format of dates defined in the Time Format section of this window.

Time Format

Specifies the format of times defined in the Time Format section of this window.

Show Calendar
Button

Indicates whether the calendar button is shown during run mode when the date/time is absolute.

Date/Time
option buttons

Show Date - select to show the date only.

Show Time - select to show the time only.

Show Date & Time - select to show the date and time with the date showing first.

Show Time & Date - select to show the time and date with the time showing first.

 
Edit Current Display Settings: Scroll Rates Tab

Property

Description

Regular Scroll

Specifies the rate and units for the regular left and right scroll buttons. For example, if you enter 5 in the Regular Scroll Rate field, selecting the Hours button sets the default scroll rate to 5 hours. The default is 15 minutes.

Fast Scroll

Specifies the rate and units for the fast left and right scroll buttons. For example, if you enter 10 in the Fast Scroll Rate field, selecting the Hours button sets the default fast scroll rate to 10 hours. The default is 30 minutes.

Enabled check box

Indicates whether the auto update option is available for this display. This check box is cleared by default.

Rate in Secs field

Specifies the default rate in seconds for the auto update control.

 
Edit Current Display Settings: Printing Tab

Property

Description

Print Header
check box

Indicates that the current display will be printed with a header.

Display Name

Allows you to select the Browse button and choose the name of the display to be used as the header. See Creating Header/Footer Displays for more information on creating displays that are used as headers and footers.

Maximum Height

Specifies the maximum height of the header. The graphics area in the footer will be scaled if its height is larger than the height you indicate. Valid values: 0.12 - 3.0 (inches, or equivalent cm).

Print Footer

Indicates that the current display will be printed with a footer.

Display Name

Allows you to select the Browse button and choose the name of the display to be used as the footer.

Maximum Height

Specifies the maximum height of the footer. The graphics area in the footer will be scaled if its height is larger than the height you indicate. Valid values: 0.12 - 3.0 (inches, or equivalent cm).

Display Description

Allows you to enter text that you want to use in a header or footer. The description entered here can be selected from the Text Configuration dialog box (when you insert a Text object in a display). See To configure text objects for more information.
