Option 4.1. Insert or Add an Item in the PRT

Add/insert an item placement

Important: This does not apply to items in shifting regions.

Tracker places new items in the PRT_UI non-shifting regions as follows.

Select an item in the region.

New items will be added or inserted as follows:

Insert Item Defined

Condition 1

Item type	Serialized or non-serialized
Location	Selected
Location status	Full or not full. The status does not matter.
Behavior	Inserts an item into the selected location. When the item is inserted: All items that were in the location in which the item is inserted move back one location to the end of the region. Items that were in the location to which items were moved move back one location to the end of the region. The items in each involved location continue to move back one until each is in one location closer to the end of the region. (If the last location in the region currently has items) Tracker creates an additional location, which is now the last location and moves the last items into the new location.
Example	A region has 10 locations. The region currently has items in all 10 locations. An item is inserted into Location 5. Each item that was in Location 5, moves to Location 6. Each item that was in Location 6, moves to Location 7. Each item that was in Location 7, moves to Location 8. Each item that was in Location 8, moves to Location 9. Each item that was in Location 9, moves to Location 10. Tracker creates Location 11. Each item that was in Location 10, moves to Location 11.

Condition 2

Item type	Serialized or non-serialized.
Location	Not selected.
Location status	Full or not full. The status does not matter.
Behavior	Inserts an item into a newly created last location.
Example	A region has 10 locations. The region currently has items in 6 locations Tracker creates Location 7 and inserts the item into that location.

Add Item Defined

Adds the item to an existing location that you have selected.

Condition 1

Item type	Serialized or non-serialized.
Location	Selected.
Location status	Not full. At least one item can still be added.
Behavior	The item is added to the selected location.
Example	Location 5 can hold four items. Three items are currently in the location. The item is added to Location 5.

Condition 2

Item type	Serialized or non-serialized.
Location	Selected.
Location status	Full. No more items can be added to that location.
Behavior	The item is inserted into the next location. Tracker treats the add as an insert command.

Condition 3

Item type	Serialized
Location	No location has been selected
Location status	Full or not full. The status does not matter.
Behavior	Inserts an item into a newly created last location.
Example	A region has 10 locations. The region currently has items in 6 locations Tracker creates Location 7 and inserts the serialized item into that location.

Condition 4

Item type	Non-serialized
Location	No location has been selected
Location status	Not full. At least one item can still be added.
Behavior	Adds the item to the last location.
Example	A region has 10 locations. The region currently has items in 6 locations. Location 6 is not full. Tracker adds the non-serialized item to Location 6.

Condition 5

Item type	Non-serialized
Location	No location has been selected
Location status	Full. No more items can be added to that location.
Behavior	Inserts an item into a newly created last location.
Example	A region has 10 locations. The region currently has items in 6 locations. Location 6 is full. Tracker creates Location 7 and inserts the non-serialized item into that location.
