Generator

Using the node Generator you can create new Generators for the selected supply area using the context menu.

Generators serve to lower the currently obtained power. Basically it is possible to engage each generator even on highest load (Spitzenleistung). If a generator is engaged, the power currently obtained (Current average) is immediately lowered.

Properties

In addition to name and identification, properties can be defined in different groups for the generator:

Capacity/Priority: Defines the basic behavior of pieces of equipment in the electric grid.

These properties are only available for devices in power networks. They determine the fundamental behavior of the devices relevant in the power network.

Switching times: Default of different life spans or timely requirements to single pieces of equipment.

Switching times

With these parameters, the EMS can consider different uptimes or time requirements of different devices. The switching times have an essential influence on the choice of the device for a switching operation.

Switching variables: Variable for the adaption of important parameters during the Runtime.

Switching variables

The process variables are used to adjust important parameters for forecasts and optimizations during Runtime. Based on measured values, this allows for the adjustment of important EMS parameters like switching priorities to the current process.

Blocking times: Excludes single pieces of equipment of the EMS from the optimization.

Blocking times

By means of freely definable time ranges, individual devices of the EMS can be excluded from the optimization. Devices with a defined blocking time will not be considered by the EMS within this time range.

Switching steps: Define switching levels for combined heat and power units.

Switching steps

These settings are only available for generators in power networks.

Combined heat and power units are different from standard generators due to the presence of predefined switching stages. A CHP can only assume output values that were also defined as a switching stage. Also, the EMS can only perform switching actions from one stage to the next higher or to the next lower switching stage.

All adjustable properties are described in the help window after you click on them.

Attention

The switching priority for all defined devices is taken into consideration by the EMS. This means that the same number range is used for generators and devices. Therefore the priorities for all defined equipment must be considered because it is not distinguished between generators and devices.

`Cut`	No function at the device group.
`Copy`	Copies the currently selected device group. You can not copy more than one group at a time (no multi-select).
`Paste`	Inserts objects of the type Device group, Device.
`Delete`	Deletes the currently selected device group. You can not delete more than one group at a time (no multi-select).
`Import XML all...`	Exports all device groups of the selected grid.
`Export XML selected...`	Exports the currently selected device group. You can not export more than one group at a time (no multi-select).
`Import XML ...`	Imports objects of the type Supply area.
`Help`	Opens the online-help for the EMS module.
