To configure a datalink   

  1. Add a new datalink, or right-click the Datalink object and select Edit DataLink. The Datalink Configuration dialog box appears.

  2. Select a data source. How?

  3. If you want to enable the Data Entry option, configure the Data Entry Type. Refer to the section Data Entry for more information.

  4. Click the Format tab and define the general format of the datalink:

    1. If you are formatting a numeric datalink, enter the number of digits to display before and after the decimal point by completing the Integer Digits and Decimal Digits fields, respectively.

    2. If you are formatting an alphanumeric datalink, enter the number of lines to display and the number of characters per line by completing the Number of Lines and Chars per Line fields, respectively.

  5. Select the miscellaneous properties for the datalink:

    1. Select the date and time format from the Date Format and Time Format fields, respectively.

    2. Select how to justify the text in the field from the Justification field.

    3. Select the alignment you want to use by selecting either Horizontal or Vertical from the Alignment field.

    4. Select a separator character from the Delimiter field to include a separator between multiple values in the datalink.

  6. Attach any analysis objects by selecting the Quick Analysis tab and configuring them. These analysis objects will appear on the datalink's context menu. For more information, refer to the section Quick Analysis

  7. Click OK to accept your entries.

To set further object properties, select Properties from the datalink object's context menu. For more information, refer to Datalink Properties.

NOTE: If you see the text <No Data> in a datalink, examine the object's configuration and confirm that the data source referenced exists and the specified end time has occurred on the Historian server. If neither of these situations is true, make sure the Historian server is running and that the Proficy Portal server is connected to it.
