The analysis resp. further processing of the archive contents can be done with the Extended trend, the Report Generator or the Picture type Archive revision. For this the storage behaviour for each archive is to be defined.

Here the saving options for the archive are defined.

attention Attention

When changing the type of storage or the cycle, the alpha archive, i.e. the archive file currently written by zenon, is deleted.

Configurable options are:

Internal database

Data are available in a ring (FIFO) for postprocessing and evaluation; Data are stored behind the project path (...\\project path\\computer\\project name) and only shifted into the export path after evacuation

dBase format

On ending of the archive immediately evacuate into *.DBF file (CAUTION: postprocessing, log creation or line graphics no longer possible for evacuated archives!)

ASCII file

On ending of the archive, immediately evacuate into a "*.TXT" file. (CAUTION: postprocessing, log creation or line graphics no longer possible for evacuated archives!)

In Unicode: - active: The evacuated .txt-files are created in unicode-format.

XML-File

On ending of the archive, immediately evacuate into a "*.XML" file. (CAUTION: postprocessing, log creation or line graphics no longer possible for evacuated archives!)

Cycle

Definition of the length of the single archives; influences the file size and the number of archive files and defines the cycle of following archives

Cycle

Defined archive length in days, hours and minutes

Month change

Every turn of month (monthly archives)

Turn of year

Every turn of a year (yearly archives)

Ring buffer

Evacuate archives

Definition of the handling for the oldest archive in the ring on overflow

Do not evacuate

dBase IV

ASCII

XML

SQL database

Internal format: The outsourcing is done in an internal .arx-format.

Keep archives

How long should archive files be stored

Format

Format of the data in the export file (only makes sense when evacuating to dBase or ASCII format)

D

Date stamp of the process variable entry

Z

Time stamp of the process variable entry

V

Variable name

W

Technical value of the process variable entry

S

Status of the process variable entry

Default

DZVWS

The configuring of the column separators (for ASCII export) and the decimals is done in the projekt.INI.

[ARCHIV]

TRENNZEICHEN=,

Input of the possible separators

The file names of the archives to be exported are issued as follows:

nnYYMMDDHHMMSS.xxx

File name

- nn

Archive short identifier according to definition

- yy

Year (e.g. 05 for 2005)

- mm

Month (e.g. 03 for March)

- dd

Day

- hh

Hours in UTC/GMT time

- mm

Minute 01..59

- ss

Second 01..59

- xxx

File format (DBF, TXT)

attention Attention

For User defined Start and End of Archives:

Settings in the section Cycle are not necessary, as starting and stopping of the archive files is done by hand (i.e. with functions). Therefore the value is ignored as far as the length of the files is concerned.

But the value has an impact on how many archive files are stored. The diverse length of archive files is not regarded. zenon calculates the number of archives to be stored in the following way:

Example: 5 hours (Keep archives) / 15 minutes (Cycle) = 20 archive files to be stored
